8 Bible verses on the burden of Depression - Encouraging word and Prayer






Depression affects all different kinds of people—people who have enough and people who don’t, people with great jobs and people who are unemployed, people who are famous and people who feel like nothing, and the list goes on. Depression is real ...... the feelings are real, the pain is real, the burden feels heavy. Even several people in the Bible went through depression. Moses, Elijah, David, Job, and Naomi among others experienced pain and depression for different reasons. But God and His Word will comfort you, give you hope, and remind you of the joy you can have despite your circumstances or feelings. Depression is no surprise to God and it does not cancel His purpose for your life. You may be struggling, but you are not your struggle. You still are who God says you are. And this does not make you less of a person. You are just as valuable and your story is not over! Discover the Bible says about depression and how to fight it. 8 Bible verses on the burden of Depression:

Psalm 40:1-3  “I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.”

Deuteronomy 31:8 “It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” 

Isaiah 41:10 “…fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Philippians 4:8  Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Psalm 34:17  The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.

Psalm 3:3 But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.

Psalm 32:10 Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.

1 Peter 5:6-7  Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, 
I bring you my burdens and you know my situation. You know I can't make it without you. Comfort my heart, give me strength, and help me carry on. I pray for encouragement so that I may not tire of waiting or doing good. Please equip me with patience. I pray against depression and oppression. I believe there is no storm that you cannot carry me through. There is no bridge that you won't help me cross. There is no heartache that you won't help me let go off. There is no depression that can eat me because you are mightier than any of this. Lord please help me to leave everything behind, my past, my hurt, my pain, all the wounds and scars and let me embrace this day and everyday confidently knowing that You will take care of me. I love you Jesus. Thank you for being gentle and patient with me. I pray all this in Jesus name, Amen.
