BE STILL

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” - PSALM 46:10

In our stillness God wants you to let go of every past hurt. He wants you to give it all to him, one must actively cause the letting go; it doesn’t just happen out of the blue. When you are still with the Lord, His presence is felt. His whispers are heard. We can rest assured in His care. We will find His peace and joy. He will remind us that we are not alone. We will feel His might and power. His sovereignty will reign forever and ever. We will humble and surrender our will and accept his. He will be in control of all things and we do not have to fret and fear. Instead, just be still and know that He is Lord. He has got you covered. He will be with you and not leave you. Are you holding on to something that you need to let go of? If so, I encourage you to take a piece of paper out and jot down what you need to let go of and then take it to God and let him have it. Of course, if you are anything like me this will be something you need to do over and over again. The more you do you will find His presence and His word speaking over your life. You will feel healing and restoration. Just be still with Him. He will guide you through. I pray you trust these words and allow it to heal you and bless you.

 1) Be still...

“Be still, and know that I am God."
     - Psalm 46:10a

The Hebrew definition of "Be still" (raphah) means: ‘cease striving’ and ‘to let go and surrender’.

(Psalm 46:10 Be still (raphah) = let go, abandon = cease striving ≠ do nothing). Mark 4:39 - "And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."When Jesus calms the storm ‘Be still’

(Mark 4:39) literally means ‘Hush’ or ‘Shh’.

‘There must be time for Him, just to love Him and have Him love us, no other agendas, no list of prayer requests……’(Carol Arnott)

Here God is reminding you, ‘Stop! You don’t need to do this! I am GOD.’

Who is God?

He is Lord of Lords and King of Kings! He is Omniscient – that is all knowing. He is Omnipresent – present in all of the universe. He is Omnipotent – that is all powerful He is Holy, Faithful, Infinite without measure, the same yesterday, today and forever and He is Sovereign.
When Jesus is in your boat ⛵ nothing is going to happen to you without His knowledge.

But, make sure He is in your boat!

When do I need to remember this? - Be still, and know, that I am God.

  • In the difficult times.

When disciples said to Jesus, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?”

  • In the good times.

James 1:17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

2) Be still, and know…
1 Corinthians 2:16 ESV“For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

This verse reminds us that in Christ we are able to know God personally because we have received the ‘mind of Christ’.

3) Be still, and know, that I AM GOD...

"You can know about God and still not know God"

Information ≠ Transformation

Galatians 4:19 says, "my little children, for whom I am again in the anguish of childbirth until Christ is formed in you!

Information(Word of God) + Formation (Work of the Spirit) = Transformation (Christ Likeness).

Eternal life is knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent.

John 17:3 - "And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent."

Application : Ask Yourself

Be still – What changes can you make in your daily life to spend more time ‘being still’ in God’s presence? Know - Do you really know God? Are you in relationship with Him? I am God - Do you need fresh faith to trust Him for today, tomorrow and the future?
Do you really know God or do you only know about God ?
