5 Short Promises for a Busy Mind

All of us have a busy mind buzzing on through out the day. A worrier, an over-analyzer, or just a deep thinker – we are still not entirely sure what we can call ourselves! Although the worrying and over-thinking is something we are all trying to work on, we can also be grateful for how these characteristics affects our faith journey.

When I feel like I’m at my weakest, I’ve learned there are two directions I can go: the first is that I can choose to let my thoughts swirl around me. I can let them all sink in until I find myself overwhelmed or discouraged. But the second choice I could make is to turn to my Lord. That means I must forget my pride and my “I can do this/analyze this/get through this on my own” attitude. It can be hard to do, especially if these thought patterns of worry or over-thinking are a habit! But in those moments when I choose to turn towards my Savior and draw close to Him rather than push away, I am filled with peace and reminders of His promises. Amen.

Here are 5 Promises of God:

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. – Psalm 143:8

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. – 1 Peter 5:7

Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. – Psalm 116:7

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10
