“The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way.” - Psalm 37:23
The key is if we are delighting in God and to delight in God means we are overjoyed to be able to serve God and that is accompanied with a desire to obey God.
God delights in us when we live lives that are pleasing to Him and when we please God we are delighting in Him and He’s delighted to grant us the desires of our hearts.
To promise someone that life will be better or easier once someone comes to saving faith in Christ is not true; in fact it is just when it gets harder.
God never promises an easy road because the gate is narrow and the way is difficult. Jesus said we are to
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many” - Matthew 7:13
“because the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few” - Matthew 7:14
When we are faced with tough decisions in life, we have read that we should seek a multitude of godly counsel and trust or lean on God’s Word, not our own understanding, and even with a bad decision, nothing can separate us from God and that includes things to come, people in power, and no height or depth. Not even death! Nothing in all creation can detract from God’s purposes in our lives, even with wrong decisions, because God can take the bad and turn it into good (Genesis 50:20)
Solomon leaves us with great words of wisdom about making tough decisions in life;
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death” - Proverbs 14:12
"The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice” - Proverbs 12:15.
Jesus alone gives the rest and trust in Him we need. We may not be able to touch Jesus physically, but we can entrust the weightiest circumstances of our lives to Him.
He said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” - Matthew 11:28
How blessed we are to have a Savior whom we can trust to be faithful through every circumstance of our lives! How awesome to just lean and rest onto Him.
Are you “leaning, trusting and resting” on Him today?
PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father,
help me to lean, trust and rest on You today and to trust You as my source of strength and hope. I cast all my cares on You and praise You because You are faithful. Thank you Lord for giving me that assurance to lean, trust and rest in you alone. I love you for filling and wrapping me with your compassion and kindness like that. Thank you Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
