We are more than Conquerors

 
Juma Ikangaa is a marathon runner from Tanzania, who won the 1989 New York City Marathon in a course-record time of 2:08:01. One of His famous quotes is, “The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare.”

This is so true. Preparation counts a lot. As they say, "Fail to prepare, prepare to fail." 

This goes not just for one's training as a runner, but also for other aspects of our lives. 

Even Scripture asks us to be ready and to be Prepared. When we prepare we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ who loves us. We are overcomers because Jesus Christ overcame Satan on that cross and continues to overcome him in us. 

But, Somehow, mostly always, we humans have this amazing tendency to live below the circumstances we face instead of above them. We forget to be prepared. We forget the higher standards that God called us to live in. We often camouflage ourselves under the devil’s schemes instead of attacking them. 

This is why we see most Christians are being under  attack by the enemy. The Joy of the Lord does not reside in their lives nor their homes. Peace hides away. Sometimes they go under stress and anxiety, and, they forget to give all their burdens to the Lord. They forget who their identity is in Christ Jesus. They are distracted by the pleasures and noises of this world and become complacent. The word of God does not reside in them anymore. Form of Godliness has creeped into their hearts and minds. It is a terrible mess when you don't prepare well. 

Let me pose some questions to you:

How many of us live this triumphant life which God has promised us? 

How do we prepare ourselves to be winners, overcomers, and more than conquerors in Christ Jesus?

How do we overcome the schemes of the enemy? 

Scripture gives us insight into our enemy’s tactics:

Ephesians 6:11 (ESV) warns us to -  "Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes."

“We are not unaware of his schemes” - 2 Corinthians 2:11 (ESV)

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” - James 4:7-8 (ESV)

What is God expecting from us to be prepared and to be more than conquerors? 

1) He wants us to put on the full armor of God. 

2) He wants us to be wise and discerning to heed His warnings.

3) He wants us to submit to Him. 

4) He wants us to resist the devil. 

5) He wants us to draw near to Him. 

6) He wants us to cleanse our hands.  

7) He wants us to purify our hearts. 

To live as a conqueror means, we will have to surrender, obey and be doers of God's powerful word. 

When we are in His will and plans,  we will be prepared by Him and we will be able to stand in a triumphant position to live in the blessings, power, and glory of the Lord!

"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 8:37-39 (ESV)

"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world." - John 16:33 (ESV)

"Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." - I John 4:4 (ESV) 

Yes, by using the weapon of God's word we defeat the enemy, which blesses us to  live in the fullness of God’s love, peace, joy, and victory every moment of our life! This gives you and me, the privilege and honor to be winners in Christ Jesus forever. Hallelujah! What greater honor than to be more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. Praise God. Amen.
