🚴 Focus on Your Race! - Don't miss the Joys that God intended for You! 🚴

I was cycling and noticed a person in front of me, about 1/4 of Km. I could tell he was cycling a little slower than me and decided to try to catch up with him. I had about a km to go on the road before turning off.

So I started cycling faster and faster and at every block I was gaining on him just a little bit. After a few minutes I was only about 100 yards behind him, so I really picked up my pace and pushed myself. You would have thought I was cycling in the last leg of the London Olympic triathlon.

Finally, I caught up with him and passed him by. On the inside I felt so good. “I beat him” of course, but he didn’t even know we were racing.

After I passed him, I realized that I had been so focused on competing against him that I had missed my turn, had gone nearly six blocks past it and had to turn around and go all the way back!

Isn’t this what happens in life too? Right?

That when we are so focused on competing with others in our circle, such as, our co-workers, neighbors, church members, friends, family, always trying to up one another and outdo them or trying to prove that we are more successful or more important than them!

We spend our quality time and exhaust our energy chasing to prove them that we are something and someone. We miss out on our own paths and plans that God has designed and has in store for us. When we compare and compete we miss greater opportunities and may have to cycle back to the turns that we missed. Sometimes the turns that we miss out might have terrible Consequences that we might have to pay greater prices!

Moral of this story: The problem with unhealthy competition is that it’s a never ending cycle. There will always be somebody ahead of you, someone with a better job, expensive car, grand money in the bank, higher education, lovely wife, handsome husband, well-behaved kids, Spacious Home and so on, etc. Enjoy the beautiful little things that God has given you in this life. Stay focused and live a healthy life, Physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. There’s should not be any unhealthy competition and comparison in the long run. This life in this world here is temporary. Our eternal home is waiting, for us to go see our Savior face to face. God loves you and has great plans for you. Therefore, Run your race fixing your gaze upon Jesus and while you run this race keep cheering and encouraging others as well for that too is the will of God for us! Trust and stay focused on Him. Dear God, Bless me to run this race fixing my gaze upon you alone. Give me strength to live life as you intended and to fulfill your purpose for me on earth. Help me to live in your light and feel the blessings you freely bestow on me. In Jesus name, Amen.
