************************************************************************************************************************
ANSWER:
Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4)

Acts 2:1,4 - " When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place....And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance."
ENCOURAGING WORD:
God's Anointing

But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will[a] abide in Him. - (1 John 2:27).

Thoughts for Today

Many people, these days, don't have a clear understanding of and are confused about God's anointing. It is more often talked about than ever before. Let us meditate on this with the help of God's words.

In the Old Testament "anointing" is used in the context of "pouring oil". As a
sign of appointing someone to a great commission, oil was poured upon his head. Priests, kings and prophets were anointed like this.

In the New Testament, anointing with oil is compared to being filled of the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament days, the Holy Spirit came upon very few selected ones. But in these last days, as God promised He is pouring the Holy Spirit upon all mankind. The verses, Joel 2:28,29 , Isaiah 28:11,12, Isaiah 32:15 reveal this as prophesy.

As a fulfillment of those prophesies the Holy Spirit descended on the Jewish
festival of Pentecost. "1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." (Acts 2:1-4).

So, how important is the anointing of the Holy Spirit? Jesus, who commanded to preach the gospel, also commanded not to do it without the anointing of the Holy Spirit. "4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, `which,' He said, `you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.'" (Acts 1:4,5) Would the Lord command to do something that is not important? This is very important for the Christian life and service.

Jesus Christ, the Son of Man, was baptized in water "and while He prayed, the heaven was opened. 22 And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him." (Luke 2:21,22) Even Jesus got this anointing through prayer. It is important to know about all who prayed and got the Holy Spirit. Even Mary who gave birth to Jesus got this by praying. The disciples of Jesus got it too. If it is so important to them, how important it should be for us?

People get anointing of Holy Spirit during baptism. But the Bible clearly
explains that these two are two different experiences. Many Christians haven't received the Holy Spirit because they think it is not necessary. Same teaching is given in the theological seminaries run by them. The pastors graduating from these institutions preach the same. The congregation, after all, will be like the pastors!

Today, even the Christians need to be preached about the assurance of the
receipt of forgiveness. They think that anybody born in a Christian family is
automatically a Christian. Since it is preached that the anointing is not
necessary many are not keen about receiving it. At the same time, we should concede that there are some people in every denomination who have been anointed with the Holy Spirit.

We will continue this topic in the coming days too and continue to meditate on this, as this is very important these days. It is our hope that many people
who read this will have their doubts cleared. Since so many others have written about the anointing this write-uup is presented here. Glory be to God's Name. Amen. Hallelujah.

"I will pour the Spirit on all flesh"
You promised!
Young and the old

Prayer: Our loving and guiding Heavenly Father, we thank you for anointing us with the Holy Spirit and leading us in the Path of Truth. Grant those who read this essay to receive the Holy Spirit and lead a holy life. We thank you for the Holy Spirit who leads us every day. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen.
