Why did Jesus slip away from the crowd of 5,000, after He had fed them? - BIBLE QUIZ

ANSWER: A) He did not want them to make Him a earthly king.

John 6:14-15 "When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, “This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!”15 Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself.

ENCOURAGING WORD:
Sensitive to His Voice

Today's Scripture

And the disciples came to the other side of the sea, but they had forgotten to bring any bread. And Jesus said to them, “Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” They began to discuss this among themselves, saying, “He said that because we did not bring any bread.”But Jesus, aware of this, said, “You men of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves that you have no bread? Do you not yet understand or remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets full you picked up? Or the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many large baskets full you picked up? How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. - Matthew 16:5-12 NASB.

Thoughts for Today

Jesus spoke words that had a very clear meaning. Speaking of bread and leaven, He was using words that were part of His disciplesâ daily vocabulary. Yet they didnât realize He was trying to speak about spiritual things. They did not have spiritual sensitivity to discern the true meaning.

Jesus was amazed by their lack of discernment, by how blind they were to the truths He had been teaching them, and by how much they still were dominated by the flesh and the things of this world.

This is a lesson that all of us need to learn. It is too easy to be preoccupied and focused on the issues of everyday life. Like the disciples, we can be blind or deaf to the Spirit of God. We may not be aware that God is trying to get our attention.

It is important that we learn to listen to God all of the time. We need to become more sensitive to His voice in order to receive His warnings, His instructions, and His wisdom.

Today, ask God to give you greater spiritual discernment. Ask Him to help you be more sensitive to the many ways He might be speaking to you.

Remember: He can speak to you at any time of the day or night, even through the most ordinary aspects of life, and even through things that donât seem to have any obvious spiritual significance.

Prayer : "Our Loving Heavenly Father, help me to be more sensitive to Your Spirit. Help me to be conscious of Your presence and open to Your leading. Speak to me. Use me for Your Kingdom. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, In Jesus Loving Name I Pray, Amen.
