Hi, sweet friend, once again we meet, to read this devotional message. Hope you are doing well and in good cheer. You are reading this for a reason. Be encouraged. Shove off those negative feelings. Give thanks to the Lord all the time. :)
So today, I am sharing from the book of Romans12:12 - "being Joyful in hope, Patient in affliction and Faithful in prayer."
It's a great word of Hope that brings us to our Lord. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we can live by being joyful in hope. Patient in affliction and faithful in prayer. right? if life was easy like that it would have been a joy ride. But we all know that Life is hardly like so.
So how do we do this? how do we get to live by Romans 12:12?
Let's check out and see what the word of God have to say about it. :)
Joy, patience and faithfulness are possible to attain through the Holy Spirit of God and by the Grace of God. Have you noticed that these are the fruit of the Spirit? As true children of God, we can operate in all of these things because they are characteristics of God and have been deposited into our born again spirits. We can let them flow through us simply by living by His spirit and renewing our minds to the truth of His word. How cool is that?
Joy means to have that unfaltering assurance in God’s Word as fact - knowing that our hope of glory is secured for us in heavenly places for the eternal ages to come. God’s Word is true my friend and it cannot be broken. Our hope is built on nothing less than trusting in the cross of Christ and taking God at His Word. Praise God. How wonderful is that?
Patience is to know and accept that in this world we will have tribulation – no escape to that my sweet friend, but to wait patiently in our suffering, without grumbling and complaining but to be of good cheer, knowing that God's strength is sufficient for us to see us through every difficulty of life. He is greater than our suffering, fears, doubts, confusions, depression, pain, rejection, hard heartedness, rebellious spirits, because He has already overcome sin and death – and we are united with Him and His victory. HALLELUJAH!
Prayer is one of the Greatest weapons of the spiritual warfare in which all Christians must engage. As children of God, we should all be instant in prayer – constantly lifting our hearts and voice to the Lord in thanksgiving, prayers, worship, praise, intercession and requests – and casting it all before the throne of God’s Grace, in the name of JESUS - knowing that greater is HE that is in us that he that is in the world.
Are you going through any difficulty? In despair today? Wishing for hope?
I want to gently remind you of these three powerful scripture verses to encourage you during this time and to remind you that everything is only for a season. Each season has its blessings and hardships. We can’t change the season, but we can change our reaction to those seasons.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2-4
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-10
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” -Romans 12:12
To receive this, all we gotta do is to, go to the Lord, Reconnect with Him. Ask Him to fill you up in His spirit.
Let's Pray, shall we?
Dear Lord,
I pray you bless me to be like you. Fill me with your character. In hope, may I rejoice – in tribulation, may I endure and in prayer may I persevere, as I press on to the goal of my calling. Guide me each hour to glorify you alone. I pray the Holy Spirit comfort and teach me as I go through all trials of life. Preserve me Lord. Fill me with your strength. I trust you and I need you. Thank you Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
