ENCOURAGING WORD:

Be an Abigail, remember how each decision can turn your life around for good or bad. Be wise.

Abigail is the wife of a wealthy man named, Nabal, who lived in a town called Maon and later becomes she was one of David’s wives. Abigail certainly one of the great women of the Bible. In 1 Samuel 25, we can found her story. Abigail is married to Nabal, a wealthy rancher, and she is intelligent and beautiful. But Nabal, her husband is uncaring and rude. But still, Abigail is an ideal wife, always protecting her husband’s interests, taking the initiative when he is unable or unwilling to act, and apologizing for his unkind behavior.

Abigail’s intelligence succeed in protecting Nabal from David’s anger when Nabal fails to respond to David’s request for gifts in payment for treating Nabal’s shepherds well. When Nabal learns of Abigail’s good behavior, after sobering up from a drunken state, “In the morning, when the wine had gone out of Nabal, his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.” 1 Sam 25:37. Soon after he dies, and then David married Abigail.

1 Samuel 25:32 "Then David said to Abigail: “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me! 33 And blessed is your advice and blessed are you, because you have kept me this day from coming to bloodshed and from avenging myself with my own hand. 34 For indeed, as the Lord God of Israel lives, who has kept me back from hurting you, unless you had hurried and come to meet me, surely by morning light no males would have been left to Nabal!” 35 So David received from her hand what she had brought him, and said to her, “Go up in peace to your house. See, I have heeded your voice and respected your person.”
