“These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33
Jesus has overcome and you belong to him. Your hope and encouragement should be only in Jesus. Do not take the bait of the enemy to put you down at all. Be so confident in Him that worries and troubles will flee because of the presence of the Lord. Keep building and working at what you are doing right now. Take it one day and one step at a time because in due season the Lord will lift you up. Whatever you are doing right now do it whole heartedly as if doing for the Lord. He will guide and help you. He will strengthen and give you courage to keep it going so that you will be lifted in perfect time and season. Therefore, we are not called to overcome the world ourselves because Jesus already did. He provides his children with a certain future — a “living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” and “an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade” (2 Peter 1:3-4). It is because of this reality that we can “take heart” and “be of good courage.” We can tomorrow because Jesus lives. Therefore, we are called to take heart, not in our own abilities or will power, but in the finished work of Jesus. God bless.
Prayer:
Dear God,
I admit that many times I am so worried about my future and consumed with the troubles of this world. I pray you help me to overcome these anxious thoughts and to take courage in your presence. Lord, I claim Your victory tonight. Let no worrisome thought speak above Your voice. Rather, refresh me in Your truth and promises. Remind me how You have been faithful to me before, that I may trust You forever. In Jesus name, Amen.
