Well, no worries, I have not either because there is no perfect and proper Church! :)
In this world, every visible and local church you find will have a mixture of interestingly unique people and personalities, all of whom are flawed to one extend or another. Christianity is NOT a religion but it is a relationship with God and His people.
Even though we won't find that perfect Church, do your best to find a solid Church that Honors the word of God - the Bible.
Finding a Church that is right for you can be a daunting task and process, and there is nothing wrong with visiting a few congregations before you settle for one. Here are few questions to ask yourself as you seek God's will while choosing a Church:
1) Does that Church believe that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant word of God and that is the final authority on every Church?
2) Is the Bible the main resource that is used to preach and teach in the Church?
3) Does the Church believe in the Holy Trinity - the Father, the son - Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are one? Do they observe baptism and communion?
4) Does this Church encourage you to worship God no just on Sunday's but to make it a lifestyle for your life? Does the style of their music is it to glorify God or just clangs and bangs?
5) Does this Church encourages and equips you to grow in discipleship? Discern how the body of believers behave?
6) Does this Church have a sound doctrine and expositional preaching?
7) Does this Church give importance to serve and love God and one another? Is it a place of fellowship and community?
8) Does this church shows and takes time to do mission work and evangelism to reach the Gospel to others?
There is no perfect Church but there are some things that are so important in finding the right one for you. Pray for guidance as you check out a Church and also once you are plugged in no what? Get among them to love and serve and to live in the word of God with them to glorify God and to spread the fame of Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit.
If the Church does not adhere to the word of God then keep looking for a solid Church that takes the word of God seriously!
Before I conclude I want to say this: A community doesn’t exist simply to meet your needs; what is more important is what you bring to it.
Theologian Eugene Peterson has this advice for people looking for a church: “Go to the nearest church and commit yourself to being there for six months. If it doesn’t work out, find somewhere else. But don’t look for programs, don’t look for entertainment, and don’t look for a great preacher. A Christian congregation is not a glamorous place, not a romantic place.”
But it is a place where we can forget our busy schedules for a few minutes, marvel at all God has done, and learn something new about him together with a small gathering of his family. It’s a place that confirms we were not created to face the trials in this life alone. And it’s a place where we can be used by God to bless others and to be blessed in return. God Bless.
Essential Bible Verses to Check out if the Church believes in Christian Faith:
Jesus is the son of God and the only way to God:
"Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God." - 1 John 4:15
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." - John 1:1
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6
The Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit:
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness," - 2 Timothy 3:16
God forgives our sins and offers everlasting life as a gift of His grace:
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." - 1 John 1:9
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16
Salvation is not earned it is a free gift from God:
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God" - Ephesians 2:8
Heaven and Hell is real:
Revelation 21: 4-12:
4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.
7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.
8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” The New Jerusalem, the Bride of the Lamb
9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.
11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.
12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.
God Bless.
